Profile

Profile

Trained first in transport engineering and later in urban planning, I connect professional planning practice with research and teaching across mobility, communities, and low-carbon development.

I am a Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Guangdong University of Technology. Between 2000 and 2018, I completed a B.Eng. in Transport Engineering, an M.Eng. in Transportation Planning and Management, and a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Design at Tongji University. During my doctoral study, I studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a visiting Ph.D. student sponsored by the China Scholarship Council.

From 2007 to 2012, I worked at Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute Co., Ltd., contributing to master planning, detailed planning, urban design, integrated transport planning, public transport and BRT, parking, and traffic impact assessment projects. Since joining academia, I have continued to connect professional practice, quantitative research, and curriculum development.

My current teaching and research center on urban and rural planning, urban roads and transportation planning, and related digital tools.

Research

Research Areas and Methods

My research is organized around four areas: urban mobility, housing and community environments, low-carbon cities, and planning education.

01 · MOBILITY

Urban Mobility Planning and TOD

I study rail–land-use interaction, urban travel, metropolitan mobility, and public-transport accessibility, with particular attention to the relationship between transport systems and urban spatial structure.

Research and practice:research on the integrated relationship between rail transit and land use under TOD; projects in integrated transport, public transport and BRT, and traffic organization.
02 · COMMUNITY

Housing and Community Environments

I examine relationships among housing and community environments, residential satisfaction, sense of community, place identity, and subjective well-being.

Selected work:a 2025 article in Space and Society Review; the “Heart of Dwelling” framework and research on resident well-being.
03 · LOW CARBON

Low-Carbon Cities and Carbon Emissions

I analyze the drivers of urban energy consumption and carbon emissions, with further work on transport emissions, carbon equity, and synergies between low-carbon goals and accessibility.

Selected work:First-authored articles in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews and Journal of Cleaner Production.
04 · EDUCATION

Planning Education and Digital Tools

Focusing on urban planning and urban transport courses, I study how AI, digital platforms, and transport-analysis tools can support problem diagnosis, scenario development, and formative assessment.

Teaching foundation:principal investigator of a university-level undergraduate teaching-reform project; teaching achievements recognized at the National Urban and Rural Planning Education Annual Conference in both 2025 and 2026.
Methods
GIS and spatial-network analysis
Structural equation modeling
LMDI decomposition and causal analysis
Multi-criteria evaluation
